Welcome to Cross Walk Bibles!

Bible rebinding is a new service that began in 2024 and has overwhelmingly positive feedback. Rebinding is the process in which a “well-loved” Bible gets a new chance at life with a new, real leather cover. It is a total recovering that is fortified and adhered to the Bible text block. This is not a “slip-cover” but a full rebinding.

This started when I was sitting in church last year looking around at others’ Bibles and noticing that the vast majority are held together with tape (or not at all) or falling apart in some fashion. New high-quality leather bibles from prominent manufacturers can be expensive and impersonal, so I decided to do something about that.

The process of rebinding may sound intimidating but there is great joy through the process.

The bible is cut in strategic places to completely remove the old covering as well as the old ribbons and any left over binding materials to reveal the raw text block.

At this stage, the Bible is restored if needed; the leaflets that have come loose are re-secured and any tearing along the front or rear is set back in place. This gets the block ready for another round of life.

The Bible block is then re-fortified with new spine material, ribbons, and headbands in prep for the new cover. It is then measured and a new, custom leather cover is meticulously cut and assembled to the owners specifications.

Finally, gold or silver foiling is added to the cover, the spine and the liner if desired to complete the look and to add some personalization and ownership.

So, what’s next?

Leather stock is always changing, so if there is a specific look you are wanting or want to see what the current inventory is like and what the process is to get your Bible Rebind started, please reach out via the Contact page and select the Bible Rebinding service.

Please enjoy and get some inspiration from the rebound Bible images below. All images are taken by me and all the Bibles shown have been fully restored.
